The word ‘excellent’ is overused, isn’t it? It has become little more than a way to add another exclamation point to “great!” We use it to convey enthusiasm about a favorable weather forecast, a friend’s vacation plans, or news that our favorite band is coming to town. Virtually interchangeable with ‘outstanding,’ ‘awesome,’ and ‘cool,’ it is definitely not a distinctive word. But when we convert 'excellent' to a noun, it really shines:
